![]() ![]() I remember in Gears of War 3 matches hearing Dizzy around the corner screaming 'revive me!' followed by a Gnasher sound, and his death scream. Even when you chainsaw someone now, often it'll be quiet instead of incredible voice acting carrying it like it did in Gears of War 1-3 - that made it feel so strained and strenuous to chainsaw a 22 stone Locust in half! Like yes, those games look graphically more impressive. When you compare that to Gears 4/5, you Gnasher someone and they just melt in front of you, tomato sauce blood, no death cry or heavy blood splatter on the screen, and to me this makes it feel no where near as satisfying. What was once a man in front of you has been reduced to a piece of shit on the floor, and it's such a power trip - it's one of the reasons why the Gnasher shotgun is so beloved to this day to see that up close and personal, especially with how 'Bassy' it sounded back in those games. If you're playing as the locust, and you Gnasher Marcus in those games, he gibs into like 5 pieces in all directions, and lets out a death cry in Agony. In Gears of War 1-3, the dark, gritty atmosphere, blood and gore added to the identity of the game massively. I feel like In Gears 4/5, in versus matches, there's a lack of personality. ![]()
